What do Oracle JInitiator and Sun JRE do?
The Oracle JInitiator works with your web browser to run and display the Banner INB forms. The Banner INB forms are actually Java based applications that require an environment that the Oracle JInitiator and web browser work together to create. This is why Banner INB forms do not act the same way as normal web pages.
The Sun JRE performs the same function as the Oracle JInitiator. The main difference is that it is used for more than just Banner INB.
Why the change from Oracle JInitiator to Sun JRE ?
The Oracle JInitiator currently has issues running on newer web browser like Internet Explorer 7. Changing to the Sun JRE will allow Banner INB forms to run in newer browsers.
How can I prepare for the change?
If you are a regular user of Banner INB, you can prepare by installing at least the minimum version of Sun JRE needed ahead of time.
